Living with pets means accepting that no object is truly off-limits to their curiosity. From furniture to gadgets, anything can become a toy or a point of interest. These spontaneous interactions often tend to catch their owners off guard. A recent video captures exactly that, showing a dog who takes over a vacuum cleaner in an unexpectedly funny way.
Owner catches dog riding the vacuum cleaner at home
A video shared on Instagram by @together_anything_is_pawsible captures a hilarious moment involving a Cocker Spaniel named Fern and a robotic vacuum cleaner. What was meant to be a simple cleaning session quickly turned into an amusing scene when Fern decided to take control of the device.
In the clip, Fern is seen calmly perched on top of a moving Roomba as it glides across the floor. Instead of being startled or confused, the dog appears completely at ease, almost as if she believes the vacuum cleaner is meant for her entertainment. Sitting upright and balanced, she rides along while the device continues its cleaning path.
The situation becomes even funnier when her owner walks in and catches her in the act. Fern responds with an innocent, wide-eyed look, as if unaware that anything unusual is happening. Her expression only adds to the humor, making it seem like she’s silently asking what the problem is. Nearby, her brother Basil is also visible as an innocent bystander. However, he appears equally unfazed by Fern’s unusual choice of ride.
According to the caption, the video was taken about a year ago when the family was busy packing for a trip while trying to clean the house simultaneously. During that chaos, Fern seemingly decided the vacuum cleaner was hers to command. The owner joked that Fern likely sees the device as an “upgraded skateboard” designed just for her enjoyment. Even now, the dog reportedly runs toward the vacuum every time it’s switched on.
One commenter joked about Fern’s direct eye contact, imagining her saying, “What ya gonna do, mum?” Others pointed out that both dogs looked like they were imitating cats with their curious mischief. Another viewer suggested getting a separate vacuum just for Basil so he could join in.
