You don’t need a translator to understand a happy dog. Most pups make their feelings known through enthusiastic tail wags, dramatic flops, and an eagerness that is impossible to fake. A recent video showed rescue dog Cactus doing exactly that after his dad surprised him with a cozy new “cuddle blankie.”

Mike Brown knows his rescue dog Cactus well enough to recognize when something earns his approval. So, when he recently brought home a new “cuddle blankie” for the pup, he decided to film the reaction and share it with followers on Cactus’ Instagram account, @cactustherescue.
The video opens with the text, “Seeing how rescue pup reacts to new cuddle blanket.” However, it takes only a few moments for Cactus to make his opinion known. As soon as Brown introduces the blanket, the dog eagerly throws himself onto it. The former begins rolling around across the fabric, rubbing his face and body against it as if he has already decided it belongs to him.
His excitement is impossible to miss, and the playful display quickly becomes the highlight of the clip. The rescue pup does not stop there. While enjoying his new blanket, Cactus also showers Brown with affection, giving him a few licks that appear to be a heartfelt thank-you.
Wanting to fully test out the blanket, Brown eventually lies down next to Cactus to see whether there is enough room for both of them. The answer appears to be yes. By the end of the video, the two are curled up together underneath the blanket, looking comfortable and relaxed as they settle in for what Brown hopes will be many future naps.
In the caption, Brown explained that he enjoys surprising Cactus with new things and seeing his reactions. “If he likes it he really can’t hold back his excitement. This blanket definitely passed the test! Looking forward to many cozy naps together,” he wrote.
The wholesome moment quickly won over viewers. One commenter joked that Cactus wasted no time making up his mind, writing, “Well that didn’t take long! He is so cute!” Another praised Brown, saying, “You are a great dog dad.”
Several people were especially charmed by the ending. “Awwwww it’s the sleeping at the end that’s so cute,” one viewer commented. Judging by the dog’s enthusiastic response, Brown’s latest purchase was an undeniable success.
