A video shared on Instagram by @dashboard_doggos captured a touching moment during a paralyzed foster dog’s first rehab appointment. The clip shows Chelsea calmly interacting with rehab staff as they gently examine and comfort her.

Text over the video reads, “Watching our paralyzed foster pup just melt while being cared for at her first rehab appt.” Throughout the visit, Chelsea appears relaxed and trusting, leaning into the affection while allowing the team to care for her comfortably.

According to the pup’s foster mom, the visit was an important step in understanding Chelsea’s long-term needs. In the caption, she explained that the rehab facility partnered with the rescue organization handling Chelsea’s case and used the first appointment to evaluate her condition and create a treatment plan for the future.

Despite the seriousness of her spinal injury, the staff were reportedly impressed by how active Chelsea already is. Her foster mom shared that the team didn’t expect her to walk or play as much as she currently does. Even with limited mobility, the pup continues to stay energetic and engaged, something that stood out immediately during the evaluation.

The appointment also revealed lasting effects from the trauma to her spine. Chelsea experiences stiffness in her back legs and lacks control over her bladder and bowel movements. Her caregivers said she will eventually need a mobility cart, even with continued physical therapy and treatment.

What’s more, the way her body moves has already caused sores and injuries on her paws. Consequently, there are concerns about additional strain on her spine over time. Even so, her foster mom emphasized that Chelsea is not in pain and continues to show remarkable resilience every day.

More than anything, viewers were touched by Chelsea’s gentle nature and willingness to trust the people helping her. Her foster family says they are committed to surrounding her with “people who smother her in comfort and love” as she continues her recovery journey.
