A rescue dog named Cactus turned a backyard visitor into a full security situation in a new Instagram video. The adopted pup spotted a large lizard outside the glass door and wanted in on the action. However, his dad, Michael Henry, kept the moment safe. The post from @cactustherescue said Cactus is “seriously obsessed with lizards” and called it normal South Florida behavior.

Rescue dog thinks he can handle a lizard, but dad strongly disagrees

The video was posted by @cactustherescue one day ago. It showed Cactus watching a lizard from inside the house. The post had 13.4K likes and 174 comments. In the caption, the account explained that Cactus usually watches small geckos in the backyard. This time, a much larger “dinosaur looking lizard” appeared outside.

The scene begins with Cactus standing by the glass door, staring into the yard. The on-screen text jokes, “When your dog wants to battle with Godzilla in the backyard.” Then Cactus rises on his back legs and barks through the door.

Henry quickly makes it clear that the meeting is not happening. In the audio, he says, “We cannot let you out, Cat.” He also tells him, “That is a huge lizard.” Cactus keeps watching the patio like he is ready to investigate. That choice also fits safe pet handling. Dogs can get overly excited around wildlife, especially when the animal moves fast. In this case, the caption said they never interacted. Henry went outside to make the lizard leave.

The final beat makes the clip even funnier. Henry walks outside and tells the visitor, “Go, buddy. Go, leave.” After that, Cactus rushes through the open door and finds nothing there. Henry finally tells him, “Okay, relax.”

Fans loved the harmless backyard drama in the comments. One wrote, “I just want to say hi…with my teeth… Cactus…probably.” Another added, “Cactus is on it!!! Saving the house!!!!” A third said, “No way Mister, don’t want a vet visit in our future any time soon.”
