Fetch is usually considered one of the easiest ways to tire out an energetic dog. Throw the ball, wait for the excited sprint, and repeat until your pet finally slows down. Of course, that routine only works if the dog actually believes running is worth the effort. A video shared on Instagram shows a Chow Chow named Havi taking a very “lazy” approach to the classic game.

The clip, posted by @havichow, opens with text from the owner asking, “Is it just my Chow Chow who plays like this? So lazy!” Viewers then see Havi lying flat on the floor with a tennis ball placed directly in front of him.

Instead of picking up the ball and bringing it back the way most dogs would, the fluffy Chow Chow barely moves from his spot. Havi gently pushes the ball toward his owner with his mouth before immediately settling back down again. The effort appears to end there, with the dog showing little interest in standing up or chasing after the toy.

As the video continues, Havi rolls lazily around beside the tennis ball, occasionally nudging it but never fully engaging in the game. The Chow Chow’s owner jokingly described the scene as “The Laziest Fetch Ever,” and the rest of the clip only reinforced that description.

Many people in the comments section said the behavior seemed typical for the breed, which is often described as calm, stubborn, and independent. One viewer joked, “He’s resilient. Not giving up. Using his full energy.” Another commenter shared their own experience, writing, “I have a chow mix and no this is how mine is. God forbid he takes more than 20 steps a day.”

Others said their pets behaved in similar ways. “Mine sometimes doesn’t even standup for the snack,” one person commented. Another viewer summed up the video by writing, “Now that’s a true chow chow.”
