Giving your dog a haircut can be daunting, but Frankie the Dachshund showed what true patience looks like when his mum decided, without warning, might you note, to offer an impromptu grooming session.
In an Instagram video from @heyfrankie.c, Frankie sits on a couch while his mum works around his paws, chest, ears, and tail with grooming scissors. Instead of squirming or snapping, he watches her with a solemn stare. And with every trim, his stare asks, “Are we really doing this right now?”

The video’s on-screen caption explains the scene with, “POV: your mother randomly decides to give you a full haircut (she has zero experience).” But the dog, for his part, stays calm during the haircut. He lets it happen, though he looks mildly confused when the scissors come out near his paws and the leg fur.

Viewers had a lot to say, and many seemed shocked Frankie did not protest, with one person writing, “That boy trusts you with his life,” while another called him the “Goodest boy” for staying so still. A third commenter joked that this was the “Mama Great Clips Special.” Meanwhile, a groomer in the comments even offered practical tips, such as cutting with the fur’s growth pattern and taking extra care around the ears and underarms.
As for the dog’s calm reaction during the haircut, it likely comes down to trust and familiarity. Dogs often tolerate odd home spa moments better when the handling comes from someone they feel safe with, and some also go very still when they are not sure what is happening, to kind of wait it out and see where this goes.
Either way, Frankie deserves an award for his patience. His mum got a new memory, and the internet got a very polite Dachshund totally judging the whole process.
